Steve Brusatte

Steve Brusatte is Professor of Palaeontology and Evolution at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. A native of Illinois in the USA, Steve has an undergradute degree in geophysical sciences from the University of Chicago, Master's in palaeobiology from the University of Bristol, and PhD from Columbia University and the American Museum of Natural History in New York. He is a specialist on the anatomy, phylogeny, and evolution of dinosaurs, particularly theropods, and also studies the rise of dinosaurs, the origin of birds, and the extinction of the non-avian dinosaurs. Steve has authored around 200 research papers, the textbook Dinosaur Paleobiology, and several popular science books, including the bestselling The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs. He loves communicating science broadly, and has been the paleontology consultant for the films Jurassic World: Dominion and Jurassic World: Rebirth. He received two Jurassic Foundation grants as a student--one to study early theropod dinosaurs in China and the other to do Triassic fieldwork in Portugal--and credits these as helping to jumpstart his career.
